Business Jet Crash in Texas Kills One

A business jet crashed on a highway in Texas on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of one individual, as reported by police authorities. The incident occurred when the jet, which had six people on board, crashed on Loop 20 in Laredo, Texas, shortly after 10 p.m. This information was provided by Jose Baeza, an investigator with the Laredo Police Department.

The accident involved the aircraft striking a vehicle, although it was not clear whether the person who died was a passenger of the plane or a person on the ground. Reports regarding the conditions of those aboard the plane were not immediately available. Initially, authorities did not report significant injuries on the ground. However, five officers responding to the crash were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, according to Baeza.

Following the crash, Loop 20 was closed and expected to stay closed into Wednesday morning. The jet involved in the accident was identified as a Cessna Citation Latitude twin jet. FlightAware data indicated that the plane took off from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico at 6:19 p.m.

The incident involved a plane owned by NetJets, as confirmed by the company in a statement. NetJets is collaborating with the authorities regarding the investigation of the crash. The cause of the crash in Laredo, situated around 140 miles southwest of San Antonio, remains unknown.

Social media videos exhibited the plane lying on its side, smashed into a highway barrier with its tail detached from the fuselage.
