On Monday, quarterback Caleb Williams received optimistic news following an MRI, as he avoided a severe injury that could have impacted the Chicago Bears significantly. A source informed OutKick that Williams has a strained hamstring, specifically a Grade 1 strain, and is not expected to miss substantial playing time.
During Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, Williams suffered the injury but is forecast to miss only one to three weeks while undergoing rehabilitation. Despite concerns, Bears coach Ben Johnson shared with ESPN1000 that Williams is viewed as “week-to-week.” While Netflix Sports reported that Williams hasn’t been ruled out for next Monday’s clash against the Philadelphia Eagles, such optimism is still somewhat cautious.
Initially, there were worries about a complete detachment of Williams’s hamstring after he fell during a scramble, untouched. However, it has been confirmed that his hamstring remains securely attached and is structurally sound. This reassurance came despite the distressing scene, where Williams was heard yelling in pain and had to be carted off the field.
Given his history with hamstring issues, Williams is scheduled to start rehabilitation imminently. In his absence, the Bears will rely on backup quarterback Tyson Bagent, as announced by Coach Johnson.
