Chad Tracy remains a key figure in Boston after the Red Sox confirmed his position as their 49th manager. Previously holding an interim role, Tracy’s leadership since stepping in on April 25 has transformed the team’s performance from a disheartening 10-17 start to a significant 74-55 record. Under his guidance, the team has clinched the second-best record in the American League.
The Red Sox have committed to Tracy with a three-year contract, lasting through 2029, and have the option to extend to 2030. This move aligns with the renewed contracts of chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, ensuring stability in their leadership.
According to Red Sox President & CEO Sam Kennedy, both Tracy and Breslow exhibit outstanding leadership qualities. Kennedy expressed confidence in their capabilities, attributing recent team success to their judgment and ability to inspire exceptional performance.
Chad Tracy’s remarkable record includes a standout 27-3 stretch from July 3 to August 7, marking the best 30-game performance in franchise history. Tracy’s achievements have secured the team a postseason spot, with an upcoming Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees. This encounter is a chance for the Red Sox to avenge last season’s Wild Card elimination by the Yankees.
Before ascending to the major leagues, Tracy’s coaching journey included significant time with minor league teams. He managed in the Los Angeles Angels organization and played in the minor leagues from 2006 to 2013. In 2022, Tracy managed Triple-A Worcester before his shift to the Red Sox.
