4 hours ago 0

Week 5 of the college football season didn’t promise much excitement initially. Yet, as always, it delivered unexpected drama. Only three ranked matchups took place, but the new AP Top 25 poll saw substantial changes.

While these updates occurred, it’s important to mention the potential affiliations with legal sports betting partners. FOX News may receive compensation if you sign an agreement or place a wager.

Missouri’s Big Leap and SEC Overview

Missouri made the most notable jump after defeating Florida 45-17. Just a week prior, Florida was dominant against Ole Miss. Missouri’s victory brought them up 11 spots to No. 14 in the poll.

Alabama, another SEC team, rose to No. 6 after beating Mississippi State, overtaking Indiana despite Indiana’s win over Rutgers. Surprisingly, Florida dropped eight spots after losing to Missouri, while Mississippi State fell only one spot after losing to Alabama.

SEC’s Other Movements and Kentucky’s Disappointment

Ole Miss held tight at No. 9 during their bye week, recovering from their loss to Florida. LSU advanced to No. 10 after topping McNeese. Meanwhile, Kentucky dropped from No. 24 to unranked following their overtime win against South Carolina.

The SEC poll standing adjustments left Kentucky with reason to feel frustrated. Despite a road win, they are out of the rankings.

Big Ten and USC’s Unexpected Drop

In the Big Ten, six teams appeared in the new poll. Complaints may arise concerning USC’s fall to No. 18, despite a comeback victory over Washington. Oregon advanced five places without playing, while Iowa moved up three spots despite losing to Ohio State.
