Darline Graham Nordone Sworn in as Interim South Carolina Senator

President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Graham Nordone, encouraging her to participate in the special Republican primary next month. His endorsement came shortly after South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed her to temporarily occupy the position left vacant following her brother Lindsey Graham’s untimely death.

“She is a spectacular person and a true American Patriot. Lindsey was one of the greatest people and Senators I have ever known, and his sister shares his deep love of our country and the State of South Carolina,” Trump stated in his post on Truth Social.

Trump emphasized her family’s excellence, calling her a lifelong “WINNER” and affirming his full support should she decide to run for a full Senate term. Graham Nordone makes history as the first female senator from South Carolina and the first sister appointed to the U.S. Senate.

Reports suggest that Graham Nordone is contemplating a formal candidacy for the full term. Three individuals close to the situation have indicated that she has started discussions regarding a potential campaign. Announced as her brother’s term successor by Governor McMaster on Monday, she was sworn in the following day.

The special primary’s filing period is from July 21 to July 28, with the primary set for August 11. Other potential candidates like Reps. Russell Fry, Nancy Mace, Ralph Norman, and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette have shown interest in the race.
