David Jonsson Takes on the Role of Black Panther

David Jonsson has been announced as the new Black Panther, taking on the role of T’Challa’s son in the upcoming ‘Black Panther 3’. This announcement was made by director Ryan Coogler during Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel.

‘Black Panther 3’ is scheduled for release on December 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler will return to direct this third installment. Jonsson expressed his gratitude on stage, stating, ‘Thank you to this amazing family that I have the honor and the privilege and the blessing to join.’ He added his intention to let the film speak for itself.

The first Black Panther film starred Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. Boseman passed away from colon cancer in 2020. In ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ the character was represented by Letitia Wright as Shuri, T’Challa’s sister.

Jonsson’s portrayal appears to solidify the transition to a new chapter. His character, Prince T’Challa II, was introduced in the second film. In ‘Black Panther 3’, his story will focus on coming of age and assuming leadership.

David Jonsson is known for his work in Stephen King’s ‘The Long Walk’, ‘Alien: Romulus’, and his role as Gus Sackey in ‘Industry’.
