On Tuesday, Disneyland experienced disruptions due to a citywide water pressure outage in Anaheim, California. This led to temporary closures of restrooms and restaurants across the park. Nearby businesses and Angel Stadium were also affected starting around 6 p.m. PDT.
A Disneyland spokesperson confirmed that the outage affected operations throughout the resort but emphasized that the team acted quickly to assist guests. City officials cited technical problems with extracting water from several groundwater wells. Approximately 75% of Anaheim’s water is sourced from groundwater wells, with the remaining 25% coming from the Colorado River. Reports indicated that four groundwater wells were compromised.
An Anaheim city official informed Fox News Digital that the problem was resolved by 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday, and ensured that there were no further concerns.
During the outage, access to restrooms was obstructed, catching some parkgoers off guard. Tiffany Christensen, visiting Disneyland, shared with KTLA that she experienced restricted access to various bathrooms. She noted, “It was a little chaotic, but they handled it the best they could.” According to Christensen, most guests realized Disney was not responsible for the disturbance, though some were frustrated.
Discussions about the restroom closures emerged on an online platform focused on Disneyland. A guest noted that “restaurants and restrooms are closed,” while another worried about escalating issues. Some guests considered the situation “almost unimaginable.” The inconvenience was short-lived, yet a few individuals remained dissatisfied.
Following the park’s disruption, Disneyland visitors requested refunds. This incident is reminiscent of a recent water scarcity in California, which led to the shutdown of public restrooms along Highway 101. The California Department of Transportation announced closures on the northbound and southbound Gaviota Roadside Rest Areas until at least October 1.
