Donnie Wahlberg expressed surprise that New Kids on the Block Day continues to be celebrated, a day designated by former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis on April 24. Despite the passage of decades, the day still holds significance for fans of the band.

Recently, Wahlberg shared his gratitude after narrowly avoiding a serious mishap. The private jet carrying him and seven others skidded off the runway at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. Wahlberg had just wrapped up a performance with New Kids on the Block as part of their Las Vegas residency.

On social media, Wahlberg detailed the incident and expressed thanks to the pilots and God for ensuring the safety of everyone on board. “Getting a lot of concerned messages and texts about my flight’s failed attempt at leaving Las Vegas this morning,” he wrote. “I appreciate your concern and well wishes.”

“I made this video for my friends and family after the incident, but so many of you all are my family too so I figured I’d share with you,”

In a video post-incident, Wahlberg clarified that the plane never became airborne. “We were taking off and didn’t get up in the air and ran out of runway,” he shared. He praised the pilots for their skill and God for their safety. He mentioned narrowly missing fences, trucks, and heavy equipment.

Wahlberg emphasized gratitude: “Thankful to God, of course, and to our incredible pilots who did an amazing job of keeping us safe and avoiding a serious disaster.”

“The airplane did take some lumps — but we did not,”

expressed Wahlberg in his Instagram caption. He also thanked the Las Vegas emergency personnel for their quick response.

On the incident, Wahlberg’s wife, Jenny McCarthy, commented, “God is so good!”

A Harry Reid International Airport spokesperson confirmed the aircraft skidded off runway 1L and hit the perimeter fence. However, there were no injuries reported. An air traffic control recording captured the moments with a voice urgently saying, “Aborting. Aborting.” Emergency vehicles quickly responded following the incident.

Operations at the airport resumed after both affected runways underwent inspection and were cleared for reopening.
