Elon Musk’s Political Contributions: Boost for GOP Ahead of Midterms

42 minutes ago 0

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently contributed $276 million to various Republican super PACs and organizations, enhancing GOP support as midterm elections approach. Musk’s total donations now amount to $366 million, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Musk’s America PAC. This development was initially reported by The New York Times.

From July to September, Musk allocated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, which supports Republican Senate candidates. Additionally, he provided $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund for GOP House candidates. Despite previous indications to reduce political spending, Musk’s actions demonstrate his ongoing interest in political engagement.

Musk’s America PAC, established during the 2024 election, has received over $76 million. Contributions include $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC for Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

Traditionally aloof from politics, Musk became actively involved during the 2024 elections by significantly funding Trump’s presidential campaign. He joined Trump on the campaign trail and led a cost-cutting initiative called the Department of Government Efficiency. This project faced criticism due to extensive job and funding reductions within the federal government. Following his departure from the White House in May 2025 and a subsequent public disagreement with Trump, Musk maintained a low political profile.

Musk expressed intentions to minimize political spending last May, acknowledging in a July interview with The Economist that his involvement had been excessive.
