Ex-Muslim Yasmine Mohammed Shares Her Harrowing Experience

4 weeks ago 0

Yasmine Mohammed, an ex-Muslim forced into marriage with an al-Qaeda terrorist, uses her experiences to raise awareness about Islamic radicalism. Sitting in her office, surrounded by flowers and her latest book’s cover, she reflects on her past.

“I had to accept being beaten and raped by him,” Mohammed shared with Fox News Digital. Her mother offered religious reasons for these abuses, claiming Mohammed was her husband’s property. Feeling trapped, she became pregnant and feared for her daughter when he suggested taking her to Egypt for female genital mutilation. Her only option was to escape and protect her daughter.

“There was nothing I could do except get out,” she said.

Growing up in a secular Muslim family in Canada, Mohammed experienced a world where she wore both the hijab and niqab at different points. Her mother’s radicalization led to her abusive marriage. She identified her ex-husband as Essam Marzouk, an Egyptian terrorist. Mohammed is now co-director of the Clarity Coalition and author of “Unveiled.”

She explained her ex-husband’s radicalization by highlighting his struggle with classism in Egypt. Moving to a wealthier neighborhood due to his father’s job led to difficulties in assimilation, which Mohammed believes contributed to his radicalization.

“This is happening at Ivy League universities in the U.S.,” Mohammed warned, noting significant foreign funding from Qatar promoting this ideology.

While addressing the issue, she discussed how such ideologies are extending beyond protests to influence classrooms, as noted by the Anti-Defamation League.

Today, Mohammed bravely recounts her story, surviving the harsh realities of her childhood and forced marriage to work towards a better future for others.
