Fernando Mendoza’s Signing Marks New Era for Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have officially welcomed Fernando Mendoza, the newly signed quarterback, with a guaranteed contract worth $57.27 million. While Mendoza joins the team, he must earn his place on the field. Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins currently holds the starting position. The Raiders signed Cousins to a one-year contract this offseason. He will guide Mendoza as a bridge starter, allowing the rookie to learn the team’s offense and transition into a professional role.

The Raiders are not rushing Mendoza’s debut. Instead, they emphasize the importance of him showing promise during training camp. He is expected to receive some training repetitions, but Cousins remains the starter. The team plans to evaluate Cousins’ performance weekly during the regular season. Should Cousins perform well, he retains the starting role.
