Enes Kanter Freedom, previously known for his NBA career, was removed from an arena over the weekend following an argument with Natasha Cloud of the Chicago Sky. This incident occurred during a game against the Indiana Fever.
Michael Alter, who owns the Chicago Sky, announced on Tuesday that Freedom is now banned from attending future games of the team. This decision follows his actions during a game where he voiced opposition to transgender athletes in women’s sports.
Freedom wore a shirt bearing the message, “WOMAN noun. adult human female,” while seated courtside at Wintrust Arena. The altercation with Natasha Cloud unfolded during the third-quarter timeout.
“As far as a lifetime ban, if someday he’s able to demonstrate he’s capable of being at a game and conducting himself in compliance with our rules and not be a threat to people, might we reconsider?” Alter said. “I suppose it’s possible.”
Alter also mentioned that he hasn’t discussed with the league whether this ban will extend to other WNBA events or arenas.
