President Donald Trump has announced the upcoming Freedom 250 Grand Prix, which will occur in Washington, D.C. next month. The announcement came through a video posted on Truth Social.
The minute-long video, uploaded on Wednesday, showcases IndyCar drivers racing on a track set against the backdrop of the National Mall. Viewers can also see iconic sites such as the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument. In the video caption, Trump wrote ‘FREEDOM 250 GRAND PRIX’ and included emojis depicting a race car along with U.S. and checkered flags.
Earlier this week, on Monday, Trump invited IndyCar drivers to the White House. This event served as a promotional showcase for the race, which is part of the celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary. “It’ll be one of the most unforgettable racing events the world has ever seen,” Trump commented to reporters.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix is scheduled for August 22 and 23.
