Veteran tight end George Kittle, who tore his Achilles during the San Francisco 49ers’ wild card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on January 11, has made a remarkable recovery. As the 49ers prepare for their Week 1 clash against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, Kittle is no longer listed with any injury concerns.
Kittle was restricted in practice throughout the week. However, he is now fully cleared and ready to play. Both he and teammate Nick Bosa, who had a knee issue, are set to participate in the season’s opening game scheduled for Thursday night.
“Body feels really good,” Kittle stated this week, according to 49ersWebZone. “It’s bounced back well. I’ve taken a step back towards playing. Beyond that, I am unsure of the workload.”
Entering his tenth season as a prominent tight end for the 49ers, Kittle had an impressive previous year. In just 11 regular-season games, he achieved 57 receptions for a total of 628 yards and seven touchdowns.
Thursday night’s game against the Rams will start at 8:35 p.m. ET.
