HelloFresh Faces Backlash Over Pride Month Post

3 weeks ago 0

HelloFresh is under fire due to a controversial social media post during Pride Month. Critics argue that the meal-kit company crossed a line by including a sexual joke, which they view as explicit content masquerading as corporate activism.

The debate began when HelloFresh hinted that their high-fiber meals could assist those “prepping” for Pride Month festivities. Critics say this makes inappropriate sexual references, though some followers found the humor engaging.

On Instagram, HelloFresh posted, “We know eating isn’t always a top priority this month. We respect that. But for those of you who are … prepping … we have an extensive lineup of high-fiber recipes available. Happy Pride.”

Responses varied. One user, responding with “Unhinged” and laughing emojis, praised the post. Another asked for a Pride Month discount, jokingly suggesting the code “BOTTOMSUP,” to which HelloFresh replied with the same code. Comments included, “I wHOLE heartedly thank you for your support & service,” and, “This is what happens when a brand trusts its marketing team. Excellent work.” Comedian Seth Lowery added, “Fiber is such a mystery, bc it helps people get their gut in order and also helps people get their guts rearranged.”

Meanwhile, discussion spread to platform X, where a user remarked, “I know what they’re getting at but this is still a WILD thing to say when groceries are at an all-time high and people are being forced to starve.” Another user labeled the post “sick and twisted” using an upside-down smiley face emoji.

Concerns were raised by Wade Miller, director of the Center for Renewing America, who said, “Interesting choice by @HelloFresh. It wasn’t enough for them to merely celebrate Pride Month, they went the extra mile in associating their food with human a–holes, enemas, and sh–. Bold strategy. Unsubscribed.”

A user on platform X, Ani O’Brien, who identifies as a lesbian, expressed fatigue with what she perceives as nonsense involving corporate and activist Pride. She criticized the post for associating Pride with jokes about anal sex preparation and high-fiber recipes, pointing to the discount code “BOTTOMSUP” as further evidence.

Fox News Digital contacted HelloFresh for a comment but has not yet received a response. For further tips, Rachel del Guidice at Fox News Digital can be contacted at [email protected].
