Heroic Stranger Saves Las Vegas Family From Predawn Fire

2 weeks ago 0

A mystery man is celebrated for alerting a Las Vegas family to a house fire, allowing them to escape before disappearing without a trace. The family wishes to thank the unnamed hero for saving their lives and possibly those of their neighbors.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. on July 5 in the Las Vegas Valley. Home surveillance footage shared with Fox News Digital reveals flames overtaking the backyard.

‘The stranger pounded on our door, shouted ‘Fire!’ and even used a garden hose to fight the flames before leaving quietly,’ the family shared.

Homeowner Danna Shabtai recounted to Fox News Digital that she had gone to bed after urging children across the street to cease fireworks activities. She awoke at 4:51 a.m. to frantic doorbell rings and door pounding.

‘My dog started barking, waking me up,’ Shabtai explained. ‘I opened the door to see a man shouting, ‘Fire!’ He pointed to our backyard, revealing an orange blaze.’

Realizing the fire’s severity, Shabtai’s sister took their garden hose to combat the flames, while Shabtai grabbed her toddler and warned neighbors.

‘I banged on their windows and doors, urging them to wake,’ she recalled.

Eventually, two women joined her efforts to ensure everyone evacuated safely. Meanwhile, the stranger used a neighbor’s hose to contain the fire’s spread.

Shabtai expressed immense gratitude for the man’s intervention, believing it prevented a more serious outcome. ‘If he hadn’t driven by, we might not have noticed in time,’ she said.

The family now hopes to identify the man via social media to express their thanks.

‘You’re an angel,’ Shabtai said. ‘You saved us, and you’re truly a hero.’

She suspects the fire started from fireworks debris set off by neighboring children, witnessing embers drifting toward a neighbor’s gazebo before retiring for the night. Although officials haven’t confirmed the cause, Shabtai is convinced fireworks sparked the blaze.

On Facebook, she credited the passerby with saving families and vented her frustrations over the fire’s possible cause.

‘Leave fireworks to professionals,’ she wrote. ‘This stranger saved us and others. Next year, I’ll stand guard with my garden hose.’

Shabtai shared a video of the devastation, confirming her family’s fortune in retaining their home while some neighbors were displaced.

Fox News Digital attempted to contact the North Las Vegas Fire Department for further details but did not immediately receive a reply.
