In Pasco County, Florida, ICE Law Enforcement Officer Gregory Simmons played a pivotal role in rescuing a 6-year-old child from drowning. Simmons didn’t hesitate when he saw the child in danger. Incident of Alleged Child Abuse in Tennessee

Authorities in Tennessee arrested Mikaylee Rae Beirne, 31, from Johnson City, for allegedly attempting to drown one of her children in a backyard pool. This arrest, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, took place following an incident on July 15.

Community’s Quick Response

Deputies responded to a disturbance on Cochran Road around 5 p.m. Sheriff Keith Sexton detailed the prompt actions of both neighbors and law enforcement. Witnesses described Beirne in the pool with several children while another adult was inside. When a child raised the alarm about Beirne’s actions, the adult rushed outside to intervene.

Confrontation Clears the Way to Rescue

The adult confronted Beirne, demanding the release of the child who was being held underwater. After a refusal, they pulled Beirne away, allowing the child to be brought to safety. Shortly after, another adult appeared on the scene before deputies arrived.

Legal Proceedings and Child’s Well-being

Though Beirne initially fled, deputies quickly apprehended her. She now faces charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect. She is held at Washington County Detention Center with a bond set at $50,000. Fortunately, the child involved suffered only minor injuries and bruises.
