Nearly three decades after the discovery of thousands of human bones at the site linked to suspected serial killer Herb Baumeister, new questions surface regarding the events that transpired at Fox Hollow Farm. A lead investigator, Hamilton County Coroner Jeff Jellison, points to a key figure in the case who has not provided full transparency.
Jellison expressed doubts about Mark Goodyear’s honesty, stating, “I have had the opportunity to speak with Mark Goodyear a few times.” Despite this, Jellison is determined to unearth information that may help identify the victims and their fates at Fox Hollow Farm.
“The question I would ask him is, ‘Are you willing to be honest with me?’” Jellison mentioned.
Mark Goodyear notably participated in previous discussions and claims to be the sole survivor of Herb Baumeister. Yet, his involvement spark doubts and interest in the investigator’s eyes. The ongoing investigation follows up on theories of potential accomplices and hidden evidence.
Baumeister, suspected of having lured and killed around 25 men in Indiana, committed suicide in 1996, leaving numerous questions unanswered. Nearly 10,000 human remains were eventually recovered from his expansive estate. Investigators continue to identify victims, bringing closure to families eternally searching for answers.
Renewed Investigations and Persistent Questions
The recent investigation highlights Goodyear’s connections within local gay communities, questioning whether his knowledge might assist in identifying victims. Despite his involvement in the documentaries exploring the case, Goodyear denies participating in the follow-up investigation.
Investigators in documentaries suggested that Goodyear once viewed tapes of Baumeister conducting crimes, which He reportedly found profoundly disturbing. Yet, his failure to fully adhere to planned interviews raises further suspicions.
While Goodyear remains a person of interest, Jellison clarified that Goodyear is not considered a suspect. Instead, he emphasized that another suspect might be involved, given the scope of the crimes and remains unearthed.
Challenges in Identifying Victims
The ongoing investigation continues to weigh heavily on coroners such as Jellison. He stresses the difficulty in identifying victims, comparing the scale of his work to the recovery efforts after the World Trade Center attacks. With many victims’ families unaware of their fate, time remains a critical factor.
Jellison stays committed to putting names to the unidentified human remains. He acknowledges that the process is uniquely challenging but remains hopeful that new leads may surface, offering closure to affected families.
“With Fox Hollow, we’ve recovered these remains, but we have no idea who it is that we’re looking for,” Jellison reflected.
As the investigation presses on, Jellison urges anyone with pertinent information concerning potential victims to contact his office. His openness invites further engagement, enhancing efforts to reveal the truth behind the grim discoveries at Fox Hollow Farm.
