4 weeks ago 0

James Handy, a noted actor, was found dead outside his Tarzana home, victim of a stabbing incident. His girlfriend’s son, Michael Gledhill, 44, stands accused of the murder. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office notes that if Gledhill is convicted, he might face 26 years to life imprisonment.

Nathan J. Hochman, Los Angeles County District Attorney, emphasized the tragedy of Handy’s death in a statement. He remarked, “This is not how anyone’s life should end, stabbed in the chest and left dying in the front yard of a home. The victim, James Handy, deserved to live out his later years enjoying what he had worked so hard for and enjoying it with those he loved and cared about.”

Handy was known for roles in films like “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick.” Police reports indicate that when they arrived on the scene, Handy was found unconscious in his front yard with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital but later pronounced dead.

A caller to 911 had reportedly stated, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” Upon arrival, authorities said Gledhill identified himself as responsible for the incident.

Gledhill lived at the residence with his mother, who was Handy’s girlfriend. Following the incident, he was arrested and booked into the Van Nuys Jail on a murder charge. His bail was set at $2 million.
