The New York Giants face uncertainty as their quarterback, Jaxson Dart, might miss the remainder of the season. Medical assessments are underway to evaluate Dart’s left knee injury. Dart, his doctors, and the team will decide the next steps after he sustained the injury against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
Details remain scarce, but Dart’s season could be over if surgery is needed for a detached MCL ligament. Such a procedure typically involves a recovery period of four to five months. During the game in Inglewood, California, Dart had to leave the field in the first half due to the injury.
New York Giants coach John Harbaugh stated, “Evaluations are ongoing, and we haven’t made any final decisions yet.” He added that the process involves multiple people, and they will update when a decision is made.
Harbaugh will meet with Dart after receiving a second opinion on the MRI conducted on Tuesday. The coach urged patience, emphasizing that any decisions will be made collaboratively with medical experts and Dart himself.
Initially reported by OutKick, Dart suffered an MCL sprain, indicating a significant time away from the field. Despite reports declaring Dart “will be OK,” his return is not expected soon, likely missing Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Jameis Winston steps in as the Giants’ starting quarterback, with Jake Haener likely being promoted from the practice squad as backup and possibly adding Brandon Allen.
This injury pattern spans several seasons, affecting key players like Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, Andrew Thomas, and in previous years, Saquon Barkley. These recurring injuries challenge the team’s prospects.
