Jayden Daniels’ Elbow Injury Raises Concerns for Commanders

2 weeks ago 0

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was taken off the field after suffering an apparent left elbow injury during halftime in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The injury occurred on the last play of the first half when Daniels stumbled after pulling away from the center. As he tried to recover, he used his left arm for support, leading to what looked like a hyperextension.

The incident marks a significant blow for the team. Daniels previously suffered a similar injury in 2025 against the Seattle Seahawks, which raises concerns about the seriousness of this new incident. Back then, an MRI showed no fractures or ligament damage, allowing him to avoid surgery. However, the injury resulted in missed games as the Commanders prioritized his recovery for the following year.

OutKick medical expert Dr. David Chao analyzed the injury using video footage and shared his observations, noting a visible left elbow dislocation. Dr. Chao mentioned that a second ligament tear could lead to a joint that is more vulnerable.

Daniels was taken off the field, shielding his face with a towel likely to conceal his emotions from the spectators. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota replaced him for the remainder of the game.

If the injury is confirmed, it could have major implications for both Daniels and the Commanders, potentially jeopardizing their season despite being only two weeks in.

During the 2025 season, Daniels faced a similar scenario when he dislocated his left elbow in a match against Seattle. While he initially returned, he aggravated the injury and was eventually sidelined for the remainder of the season to ensure his recovery for 2026. This current injury may prolong his recovery efforts yet again.
