JD Vance Fights Against Fraud

Vice President JD Vance is taking a strong stance against widespread fraud to protect taxpayer money and ensure vital programs like Social Security fulfill their purpose. On Wednesday morning, he will host a meeting with members of Congress at the White House. The meeting focuses on potential legislative measures to strengthen the administration’s crackdown on fraud.

According to a source close to the gathering, around 20 House and Senate members will attend. Vance will discuss strategies for targeting fraud in the various states and districts they represent. He has previously convened similar meetings, involving attorneys general and other administration officials participating in the task force.

On Tuesday, the Justice Department announced the expansion of its Northeast Health Care Fraud Strike Force to Philadelphia. Federal and state authorities focus on alleged Medicare and Medicaid fraud concerning home healthcare services. The expansion adds Pennsylvania to several states targeted in the fight against fraud.

Law enforcement has charged 19 defendants with schemes involving more than $4 million in claims submitted to Medicare and Medicaid. The DOJ release confirmed these charges. On Sunday, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday revealed a plea agreement in a case involving $1.7 million in claims.

The Vice President’s task force continues to halt taxpayer funds from reaching fraudsters, delivering savings to Americans, a Vance spokesperson stated. This effort aligns with the President’s War on Fraud.

The task force has suspended payments to numerous healthcare providers suspected of fraud nationwide. Since May, Vance and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz have withheld more than $1.4 billion in federal funding for home health and hospice providers.

In June, the Trump administration reported a 7,100% increase in Medicare claims for skin substitutes over six years, rising from $200 million to $14.4 billion. Through May, CMS identified suspicious claims totaling $224 million for these skin substitutes, known as allografts.

Dr. Mehmet Oz highlighted the significant financial burden this imposes on hospitals, physician groups, and the broader system.
