Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon Mock Trump’s Pool Makeover

Late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon made President Donald Trump the subject of jokes over the recent makeover of the Lincoln Memorial Pool. A $14 million initiative aimed to give the historic landmark an ‘American flag blue’ finish but instead resulted in unexpected algal blooms that turned the water green.

On Tuesday, officials from the National Park Service and contractors used hydrogen peroxide to address the problem. This effort is part of a larger Washington beautification project led by Trump, ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Kimmel, on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, showed footage of the pool and joked that the water was now ‘Mexican flag green.’ He commented, “Trump reportedly spent $14 million updating the reflecting pool on the National Mall. He aimed to resurface and repaint it because he disliked its appearance, seeking an American flag blue color. The project was completed last week and now, not even a week later, it’s completely green.”

Similarly, Jimmy Fallon, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, humorously noted, “President Trump just finished his $14 million project on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool,” which prompted boos from the audience. He followed with, “He was trying to make the water American flag blue. But due to algae growth, it’s now a bright green.”

Kimmel concluded his segment with a quip, “Trump was going for Avatar and he ended up with Shrek.”
