Journalist Clarifies Involvement After Hot Mic Incident

2 days ago 0

After a hot mic incident during the Sacramento Kings Media Day on Monday, online speculation grew about the identities of the voices captured. This led to the wrongful identification and harassment of several individuals, including NBC Sports Bay Area and California’s digital content producer, Tristi Rodriguez. On Friday, Rodriguez addressed these misconceptions on social media.

Rodriguez stated, ‘The past few days have been tough. I got dragged into something that had nothing to do with me, and I watched my name and reputation be tarnished across the internet. To be very clear – that was not my voice at Kings Media Day.’ Her public statement came after she faced incorrect accusations concerning the incident.

Fans speculated about the three voices overheard discussing the attractiveness of players Ben Simmons and Zach LaVine. Two of these voices were female, and one was male. Multiple members of the River City press found themselves targeted because of attempts to identify the speakers involved.

“I want to clear my name, not for the trolls who have flooded my mentions and DMs with horrific messages, but for myself,” Rodriguez continued. “Thank you to those who know me and know my professionalism and immediately knew that wasn’t me. Your messages, support and love have gone a long way over these extremely dark days.”

Rodriguez, well-known for her coverage of the Kings, Golden State Warriors, and San Francisco 49ers, expressed gratitude to those who backed her during this challenging time.
