Kelani Jordan Clinches NXT Women’s Championship at Heatwave

Kelani Jordan has reached a significant milestone by winning the WWE NXT Women’s Championship. She achieved this victory on Sunday night by defeating Kendal Grey, marking one of the year’s most exciting women’s matches at Heatwave.

The journey to the top of the NXT women’s division has been lengthy for Jordan. Despite many missed opportunities in the past, she seized the moment against Grey. Jordan capitalized on a crucial moment in the match by sending Grey into the turnbuckle while Grey was positioned on the apron. This allowed Jordan to perfectly execute a split-legged moonsault, leading to her pinning Grey and claiming the championship.

Throughout the match, Grey made several attempts to overcome Jordan. She executed an impressive avalanche reverse Spanish Fly and another powerful move with her knee when Jordan was on the ropes. Yet, Jordan’s determination and resilience kept her in the fight.

Jordan’s unwavering spirit ultimately propelled her to victory, marking her first reign as the NXT Women’s Champion. She has previously held significant singles titles. She was the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion and temporarily held the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Knockouts Championship.

Jordan’s tenure as the NXT Women’s North American Champion ended at Halloween Havoc 2024, when she lost to Fallon Henley in a gauntlet match. Her stint as the TNA Knockouts Champion concluded during NXT Gold Rush last November after she lost a triple-threat match to Lei Ying Lee.

Getting Grey in a one-on-one setting was crucial for Jordan’s success. Utilizing her gymnastics background, she effectively countered Grey’s wrestling skills, ultimately securing her championship win.
