Lauren Boebert Supports Son Amid Legal Troubles

Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert has expressed support for her son after he faced charges related to sexual exploitation of a child. This follows the arrest of Tyler J. Boebert, aged 21, in Garfield County, Colorado, on Sunday. He faces five felony counts, including enticing a child, exploiting a child via video, and contributing to a minor’s delinquency.

The Republican lawmaker issued a statement to Newsweek, saying, “I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.” Details regarding the accusations, which involve an incident allegedly occurring in early 2024, remain sparse. Garfield County Clerk of Court officials stated that an unredacted affidavit would be released soon.

Court records show that Tyler was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is set for a court date on August 19. Joseph Gavaldon, Tyler’s past attorney on separate charges, has not commented as of yet, and attempts to reach Tyler directly were unsuccessful.

“I love my son Tyler,” Lauren Boebert told The Denver Post in February 2024. “He has faced very difficult, public challenges for a young man and attention he didn’t seek.”

Tyler’s recent charges are among his legal troubles. In February, he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse when his 2-year-old son wandered away from his mother’s home. Boebert commented on the incident, saying there was “no excuse,” but a kind woman secured the child safely.

Previously, Tyler had challenges involving vehicle and credit card thefts. He pleaded guilty to attempted identity theft last year, accepted a plea deal, and reportedly received probation. The congresswoman has continued to support him, emphasizing her intention to remain by his side.

Lauren Boebert, representing Colorado’s 4th congressional district, is a mother to four boys: Tyler, Brody, Kayden, and Roman. She divorced her husband of 17 years, Jayson, in late 2023. Tyler’s son, Boebert’s only grandchild, was born earlier that year.
