Businesswoman Lily Tang Williams achieved victory in New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District primary. She outperformed her three Republican competitors. The district spans the western part of the state from north to south.
Williams, who was also a nominee for the seat in 2024, successfully defeated her rivals. As an entrepreneur and co-chair of the New Hampshire Asian American Coalition from Weare, she showed strong fundraising abilities. She raised nearly $1.2 million, while her closest opponent, Victor Orlando, raised $175,000.
A Chinese immigrant who describes herself as a survivor of communism, Williams presented herself as “open-minded” and “independent.” In an interview with WMUR, she expressed her readiness to challenge President Donald Trump when needed for her constituents’ benefit.

Regarding the conflict in Iran, she criticized oppressive regimes and called for Trump to propose a plan to end the war and achieve peace. She also criticized politicians who use their positions for personal gain.
Williams previously led the Libertarian Party in the state. Other candidates, Dan Nicholson and Michael Anthony Callis, received minimal support in the vote.

Both Tang Williams and Orlando positioned themselves as center-right candidates. New Hampshire is generally controlled by Democrats. In her 2024 campaign, Williams earned 47% of the vote.
The district is currently represented by Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-N.H.).
