Reflecting on this opportunity, Battista acknowledges the possibility of going to college and re-signing, but he’s ready to embrace professional baseball. Battista rose in scouting circles thanks to his standout performances in showcases and travel tournaments. Despite returning from injury, he noticed a growing presence of scouts at his games, which fueled his determination.

“I was trying to take it for what it was, but I just tried to play baseball honestly.”

Jayden Lobliner, a St. Charles North alum, was drafted in the ninth round by the St. Louis Cardinals. Having pursued his goal since the age of five, Lobliner’s passion for baseball brought him closer to the majors. Lobliner swiftly joined the Cardinals’ spring training facility in Jupiter, Florida, eager to start his professional career. He views this opportunity as a significant step in fulfilling his lifelong dream.

Ryan Niedzwiedz’s MLB Draft Experience

Ryan Niedzwiedz, a West Aurora product, was drafted in the 15th round by the Colorado Rockies. Niedzwiedz had prepared intensely at SIU-Edwardsville to make his dream a reality. Surrounded by friends and family, he celebrated this milestone and will report to Colorado’s spring training facility in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Known for his versatility on the field, Niedzwiedz is excited about his new professional role.
