4 weeks ago 0

A Memphis mother, Kendra Scott, faces a murder charge after allegedly shooting a man found hiding under her daughter’s bed. According to a police affidavit, Scott reported to officers, “I saw a dude under my kids’ bed, and I did what I had to do.”

The victim, identified as Rodderius Morton, was found by law enforcement in the front yard of Scott’s residence with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. This incident occurred on Thursday, and Scott, aged 36, has been charged with first-degree murder.

Witnesses reported hearing Scott yelling “Who’s at my house?” before entering the home and discovering Morton under the child’s bed. According to police, an argument ensued between Morton and Scott as Morton left the house. Officers were called to the scene following the report of a shooting at the 3000 block of Travis Road, where they discovered Morton’s body.

One witness stated that Morton had entered the home through the back door after being invited inside. The same witness heard a single gunshot while Scott and Morton were on the front porch. There are claims that Scott had previously warned if she found a boy in her house, she would “put a hole in his —.”

Scott now faces charges of first-degree murder and employment of a firearm during a dangerous felony. She is currently held without bond.
