Mercedes Moné’s AEW Victory and Upcoming Challenges

1 month ago 0

Three years ago, Mercedes Moné was seen at the All In event, showing keen interest in All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) women’s division. Her debut in AEW came after months of speculation, and she quickly became a dominant force. Moné eventually defeated Willow Nightingale to claim the TBS Championship and held onto the title for over 500 days until Nightingale reclaimed it on December 31, 2025.

This title change sparked a rivalry between the two women. Nightingale captured the AEW Women’s World Championship, while Moné triumphed in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

Moné, known for her fierce competitiveness, showcased her skills at All In on August 30, 2026.

On a memorable Sunday, Moné fought hard to win the AEW Women’s World Championship. Taking advantage of Nightingale’s injured hand, Moné applied her signature Money Maker move, leading Nightingale to pass out.

The match started intensely, with Moné suffering a nose injury from Nightingale. Despite the setback, Moné continued to fight. Nightingale attempted to maintain her composure despite her pain, executing a suplex outside the ring and delivering a heavy blow that sent Moné into the referee. Both wrestlers used this moment of distraction strategically. Nightingale even used the belt’s leather portion against Moné.

Despite these challenges, Moné persevered. Nightingale, exhausted by the end, failed to sustain her momentum due to her hand injury, allowing Moné to secure victory as the referee concluded the match.

Moné’s win marks her first AEW Women’s World Championship, adding to her already significant achievements, including a long reign as TBS champion and twice winning the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

Immediately after her victory, attention turned to Thekla, who observed the match from high above Wembley Stadium. Thekla had previously lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to Nightingale at Redemption and hadn’t appeared since.

With the All Out event just a month away, a potential clash between Moné and Thekla in September seems likely, shaping up to be an exciting encounter.
