The U.S. Navy has confirmed a revision in the number of wounded American troops from the Iran conflict. The publicly-visible count saw an increase, reflecting additional personnel injuries.
The Pentagon raised its casualty figures by 37 earlier in the week, reported by the Washington Post on Friday. Surprisingly, the update came without any formal announcement or reasoning from the Pentagon.
Specifically, the update showed 29 Navy sailors and eight Marines added as injured in the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS). This system catalogs U.S. military casualties in various operations. A Navy spokesperson informed Newsweek that these updates are part of routine verification protocols, which led to a statistical rise in Navy casualties.
All the 29 injured sailors have returned to active duty, though their names remain undisclosed.
This is an ongoing story. Additional details will be provided as new information emerges.
