Mike LaFleur Begins Role as NFL Head Coach

After a 12-year journey, Mike LaFleur has taken the reins as an NFL head coach. His career began as an offensive intern with the Cleveland Browns in 2014. The following year, he advanced to an offensive assistant position with the Atlanta Falcons.

In 2017, LaFleur joined the San Francisco 49ers, taking on the roles of passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. His career progressed further when he became the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 2021. By 2023, he held the same position with the Los Angeles Rams. Now, he leads the Arizona Cardinals.

As LaFleur prepared for his debut coaching the Cardinals, he received a special visit from his brother, Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. The interaction between the brothers showcased both sibling jesting and a moment of heartfelt mutual respect.

“Hey man, you’ve earned this opportunity,” Matt told Mike. “Go let it rip, have fun, and I’m proud of you buddy. I love you, man.”

Mike responded with surprise and gratitude, saying, “I did not expect that right there. I appreciate that, guys. That’s pretty cool. I appreciate that. Now you’ve got me a little emotional.”

Although Mike’s debut at the Hall of Fame game had positive moments, it ended with a narrow loss. The Arizona Cardinals lost 33-30 to the Carolina Panthers, with second- and third-string players dominating the field.

If Mike’s coaching journey mirrors Matt’s success, he would be pleased. In seven seasons with the Packers, Matt has achieved a 76-40-1 record. His accomplishments include six playoff appearances, four seasons with double-digit wins, three division titles, and two NFC Championship Game appearances.
