Levi Wallace, aged 31, has announced his retirement from professional football. His journey in the NFL spanned eight years, beginning as an undrafted free agent from the University of Alabama.
Wallace was last active with the Jacksonville Jaguars, although he spent the season on injured reserve without playing a game. His previous participation on the field was with the Denver Broncos during the 2024 season. The cornerback shared the news of his retirement on Instagram, encapsulating his career in a post stating, “Walk-on. Undrafted. 8 years. Retired.”

Wallace’s path reflects the underdog spirit, a familiar story for him. At Alabama, he played under coach Nick Saban as a walk-on starting in 2014. For the initial two years, Wallace was part of the scout team before earning a scholarship for the 2016 season. By the 2017 season, Wallace emerged as a vital starter for a defense that played a pivotal role in clinching the National Championship.
During his standout year in 2017, Wallace amassed 48 tackles, 4.5 for loss, two sacks, and three interceptions. He led the SEC with 15 pass breakups and returned one interception for a touchdown.
Despite showing promise at Alabama, Wallace went undrafted, eventually signing as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills. He quickly established himself, starting seven games during his rookie season. Wallace solidified his role in the secondary, consistently appearing in the starting lineup throughout his four-year tenure with the Bills, where he recorded 219 tackles and six interceptions.
After his time with the Bills, Wallace joined the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over two seasons, he started 18 of 31 games, maintaining his reputation as a reliable defender by securing six interceptions. In his final NFL season with Denver, Wallace started two out of 13 games, amassing 28 tackles.
Throughout his career of 96 games, Wallace compiled impressive stats with 333 tackles, 56 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions.
