The New York Police Department is actively searching for Jesus Acosta, a 31-year-old man accused of committing two separate shootings in New York City. The crimes occurred within days of each other, leading authorities to link the incidents.
The first attack took place around 12:16 a.m. Tuesday at 149 Grill & Deli on East 149th Street in the Bronx. The gunman approached a 33-year-old customer, shooting him multiple times in the chest. Afterward, the assailant took an unspecified amount of cash from the register before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he initially appeared stable but succumbed to his injuries, resulting in the case being classified as a homicide.
The NYPD describes the suspect as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. Distinctive tattoos include the word “Bronx” on his hand and “Bobby” on his left forearm.
Acosta is also a suspect in a deadly shooting that occurred earlier at 842 Rockaway Ave. in Brooklyn shortly after midnight on Sunday. This incident left a 44-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound to the head and a 39-year-old man with a leg injury. Both victims were transported to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where the older victim was declared deceased, while the second victim remains in stable condition.
Police have published surveillance images of Acosta and are requesting assistance from the public in locating him. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is encouraged to contact authorities.
