Ohio Couple Marries at McDonald’s, Making Headlines

A McDonald’s restaurant in Northeast Ohio turned into a wedding venue last Saturday. Jamie and George Callicoat, who work as co-workers, exchanged vows in front of friends, family, and surprised customers.

“People tried to come in the lobby,” Jamie said, though the restaurant’s dining room was closed for the event. In a memorable moment, she handed a customer extra sauces while wearing her wedding dress.

“We had people trying to come in the lobby the whole time,” Jamie remarked, sharing her experience of the unique venue.

Despite the unconventional setting, some customers reached the kiosks to order, and the drive-thru stayed open. Jamie noted, “It’s still work, whether we are off the clock or not.”

The intimate ceremony quickly went viral. McDonald’s of Northeast Ohio stated it garnered over 20 million impressions on social media. “We expected some attention but this is unbelievable,” shared Jamie.

The couple returned to work the following Tuesday, receiving congratulations from patrons and regular visitors. “Our co-workers and bosses are simply amazing,” said Jamie. Even the Brinks workers who visit regularly to pick up money recognized them from the video and offered congratulations.

Meeting through friends at Cedar Point in 2025, the two began their relationship. As time passed, their bond strengthened when Jamie moved to Akron. George, known for his engaging personality, became Jamie’s trainer when she joined McDonald’s. They connected well, sharing mutual admiration.

The couple originally planned a Cedar Point marriage until a McDonald’s manager humorously proposed they marry at work. After considering it, they agreed and the idea took off. Jamie’s bosses supported the event, assisting in the effort.

McDonald’s graciously provided the venue, while crew members contributed with food and decorations. The officiant, related to the restaurant’s general manager, added a personal touch.

The couple managed some decorations and catered dishes like barbecue chicken and buffalo chicken dip. Kids enjoyed McDonald’s meals. A unique touch included the flower girl scattering petals from a Happy Meal box.

The wedding found praise online with McDonald’s commenting on the ceremony video, calling it “a modern day love story.” Other well-wishers joined in, celebrating the event.

Tammy Snider, the general manager, highlighted the event’s significance beyond the wedding itself. “It’s about two people in love and a supportive restaurant team,” she reflected.

Jamie described their day as “perfect,” appreciative of McDonald’s for hosting. “It was a great experience,” she concluded.
