In college football, Ole Miss currently stands out. The team, led by Lane Kiffin, recently upset LSU and now boasts a 3-0 record. This ranks them No. 4 nationwide. Their next challenge is in “The Swamp” against the undefeated Florida Gators, directed by new head coach Jon Sumrall.
On the show “Get Up,” ESPN commentators Joe Fortenbaugh, Dan Orlovsky, and Harry Douglas predicted a Florida win against Ole Miss. Dan Orlovsky commented on the emotional challenge, saying, “Last weekend was an intense emotional experience for Ole Miss. It’s hard for these young athletes to rebound from that.”
Harry Douglas emphasized the talent on Florida’s team. “Florida’s skill positions are notably superior to LSU’s,” he stated. He highlighted Jadan Baugh (running back), Dallas Wilson (wide receiver), and Vernell Brown III (wide receiver) as standout players.
Joe Fortenbaugh compared the situation to past teams like Texas and Michigan, noting that they often struggle after big wins. “This presents a tough scenario for Ole Miss,” he expressed.
Florida Gators started strong under Jon Sumrall, winning 66-21 against Florida Atlantic and 52-3 against Campbell. They also secured a narrow 44-39 victory over Auburn. Jon Sumrall’s success last season with Tulane, with an 11-2 record and reaching the College Football Playoff, shows his effective coaching. Now, he has a chance to avenge last season’s losses to Ole Miss.
This game is Florida’s first encounter with a ranked opponent this season. Despite Ole Miss’s recent success, the Gators are favored by 3.5 points, backed by a dynamic offense and fervent home fans.
The upcoming match will test both teams as competition intensifies. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.
