Disneyland security contacted the Anaheim Police Department on Monday night regarding two suspicious bags left near a roundabout at the park’s main entrance. The discovery prompted a bomb squad response.
According to Sgt. Eric Anderson from the Anaheim Police Department, the alert was raised around 9:50 p.m. The two bags included one containing marbles with wires sticking out and another that had duct tape on top with sharp objects protruding from it. One of the bags was placed on a dolly.
As a safety measure, officers evacuated visitors from that area of the park and instructed them to use an alternate exit.
The authorities called upon the Orange County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad to assess the situation. Shortly before midnight, the bomb squad confirmed that the bags were harmless and posed no threat as they contained no explosives.
Sgt. Anderson indicated that the bags might have been intentionally designed to appear suspicious. Law enforcement is actively searching for those responsible.
