In Richmond, Texas, a pet goose named Goosey saved the day by alerting his owners to a dangerous situation. On August 3, very early in the morning, Goosey made a series of loud honks that roused Bert Gerber from his sleep.
The unusual noise caught Bert’s attention, as he had never heard the goose honk before. Curious and concerned, Bert quickly got up and went outside wearing his flip-flops. What he saw was alarming. The family’s barn, home to roughly 60 turkeys and chickens, was on fire.
Thanks to Goosey’s surprising and timely efforts, Bert was aware of the fire before it could cause more damage or harm. This incident highlights how even unexpected assistance from pets can prove crucial in emergencies.
