Federal Indictments Uncover Voter Fraud Among Non-Citizens in Recent Elections

3 weeks ago 0

Federal authorities have charged a Honduran national with voter fraud in California, accusing him of registering under a false name and voting in multiple elections. This case is part of a larger debate over voter identification laws.

Fox News reports that the man acquired a voter registration card through a gym membership, leading to the allegations. Meanwhile, another case involves Anthony Tyrone Higgs, a Bahamian national and lawful permanent resident in the U.S. since 1976. He has faced violent crime charges before illegally voting in the 2020 election.

White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis highlighted the seriousness of Higgs’s actions, emphasizing the consequences for noncitizens voting illegally.

“This alien was a guest in our country who forfeited his right to be in the U.S. when he committed these violent crimes and voted in the 2020 election,” said Bis.

Higgs is now subject to deportation proceedings due to his criminal record. DHS has confirmed Higgs’s illegal voting actions, marking another instance of voter-related fraud. ICE agents in Minnesota have also arrested a Peruvian national accused of voting illegally in 2024.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin comments on the importance of protecting American elections from illegal interference.

“Any noncitizens who vote illegally in our elections will be arrested and removed. American elections are only for Americans,” said Mullin.

Multiple other cases have surfaced, with Colombian Carlos Jaramillo-Grajales sentenced for identity theft related to illegal voting, and investigations of other noncitizens voting in elections, including a Slovakian, an Australian, and a Mauritanian national.

Gregory Kehoe, U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Florida, reinforces the enforcement of federal immigration laws to preserve national integrity.

“Federal immigration laws serve to safeguard our nation’s borders and protect the integrity of our government,” said Kehoe.

As authorities address these illegal voting cases, they aim to uphold the integrity of American elections, ensuring they are reserved solely for citizens.
