Piers Morgan and Cornell Student’s Heated Debate on Antisemitic Comments

Piers Morgan engaged in a heated exchange with Cornell University student Austin Franco after Franco defended his prior comment of not wanting to “work for a Jew.” This controversial statement followed Franco’s rejection of an internship interview with New York City startup VryfID co-founders Gabe and Aiden Einhorn.

Franco’s message, “Not interested in working for a Jew. Thanks,” spurred widespread criticism. Despite the backlash, Franco stood by his statement during Morgan’s show, “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Morgan expressed disbelief at Franco’s lack of apology, saying that unlike typical instances where young individuals might regret foolish remarks, Franco showed no remorse.

“The issue, Austin,” Morgan remarked, “is not merely that you said something foolish. It’s that you stand by it without regret.” Franco confirmed his stance, citing negative experiences with Jewish individuals at Cornell University and Virginia Tech as the basis for his views. Although he rebuffed accusations of being antisemitic, Morgan challenged this justification, criticizing Franco’s attitude toward Jewish people.

Franco extended his critique to Israel, describing it as a “genocidal country” and linking this view to his hesitance in working with Jewish people. Morgan countered with a comparison to Franco’s approach to Americans, despite ideological disagreements.

Following the airing of Franco’s comments, Cornell University condemned his remarks and opened an investigation through its Office of Civil Rights. However, undercover footage from Accuracy in Media showed Franco claiming no significant repercussions from the university.

Cornell University issued a statement via President Michael I. Kotlikoff, denouncing Franco’s comments while noting that federal privacy laws limit their ability to disclose specific actions against students.

In a recent development, Franco disclosed that his parents plan to evict him from their home due to his views. He expressed understanding of the challenging path ahead and reaffirmed his belief in his controversial stance, even as he prepared to face the consequences.
