Robert De Niro recently revealed an interesting detail about his friendship with Ariana Grande. Despite starring alongside her in the comedy Focker-In-Law, he admitted never having seen her in the film Wicked.
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, De Niro confessed, “I didn’t see her movie, and I still am trying to see it, believe it or not, but I want to see it. I’m going to see it with my daughter. And she’s, of course, seen it.” His awareness of Grande primarily comes from watching some of her earlier work with his daughter.
He explained, “I had seen her in some stuff with my daughter, some sitcom thing she had done.” Though he couldn’t recall the exact series, it’s likely a Nickelodeon show.
De Niro had high praise for Grande’s performance in Focker-In-Law, which will be released in theaters on November 25. In the movie, Grande portrays Olivia, the girlfriend of Henry Focker. “She was very professional,” De Niro remarked. “She’s terrific and very quick and got it all. She was very much part of the whole process. I liked her. Nice kid.”
De Niro’s compliments highlight Grande’s talent beyond singing. The Hollywood veteran’s acknowledgment of her acting capabilities demonstrates her versatility and skill in the entertainment industry.
