Rod Stewart Pauses Farewell Tour After Heart Procedure

Rod Stewart, the legendary rock ‘n’ roll singer, has paused his ‘One Last Time’ farewell tour after undergoing a coronary stent procedure. His representative confirmed that Stewart had to cancel and postpone several performances.

The singer’s Tuesday night show at Rocket Arena in Cleveland was canceled shortly after the postponement of his Cincinnati concert set for Sunday at Riverbend Music Center. The venue cited ‘an unforeseen but minor medical procedure’ requiring immediate attention as the reason. Earlier this year, Stewart also canceled shows, including two in Las Vegas and another in San Diego.

A statement from his publicist indicated that Stewart underwent a routine coronary stent procedure and is recovering well. ‘Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities,’ the statement said. However, following medical advice, he will take four weeks to fully recover before continuing his tour. This results in the inability to proceed with the scheduled tour dates.

Information regarding the affected performances will be provided by the respective promoters and venues. Stewart, who is 81, had performances planned through September 3 in North America, including a six-night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and some dates in Mexico.

‘I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me,’ Stewart expressed in the statement. He shared his disappointment about missing the shows and apologized to fans, expressing eagerness to return to the stage soon.

The Grammy Award-winning Stewart, celebrated for his distinctive voice, has an illustrious career with millions of records sold. Known for hits like ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Tonight’s the Night,’ Stewart is a two-time inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
