TUCSON, Ariz. — Weeks before the missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie reached the six-month mark since her disappearance, a neighbor reported to Fox News Digital that the FBI was searching the brush behind her home again. This search was part of ongoing investigations connected to Guthrie’s mysterious disappearance, believed to be a forced abduction from her residence on February 1, according to authorities.
The neighbor, residing nearby, noted that the investigators involved seemed familiar from previous law enforcement activities in the area. However, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported no recent visits by their task force to the location. The FBI did not respond immediately to requests for comment regarding this ongoing investigation.
Retired Pima County Sheriff’s Department lieutenant and former SWAT commander, Bob Krygier, shared insights on why investigators might revisit the site. He mentioned reasons such as following new leads or checking if recent weather changes might have shifted evidence. Heavy rain during Tucson’s monsoon season could alter landscapes, potentially revealing new evidence not seen before.
Krygier emphasized the impact of monsoon rains, which can move rocks and other debris, thereby transforming the environment. He recounted a report of a man being carried downstream by floodwaters, highlighting the force with which they can sweep away objects and alter their surroundings.
