Seattle Center Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Others Injured

Two suspects have been arrested after a mass shooting at the Seattle Center resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others. The incident occurred during the Bite of Seattle food festival over the weekend.

Shooting During the Festival

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the event as a “horrific act of violence.” She expressed sympathy for the affected families and highlighted the community’s struggle to comprehend how a joyous gathering turned deadly.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday. Attendees were advised to avoid the area due to the ongoing investigation.

Casualties and Emergency Response

The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that two individuals died at the scene despite life-saving efforts. Three others, including a 2-year-old, were hospitalized in stable condition. Another victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, while a fifth person with minor injuries refused hospital transport.

Eyewitness Accounts

Kayla Carris, who was at the festival, described the chaos as attendees fled to safety. Todd Behrends recounted hearing gunshots and witnessing people escape over each other in panic. He noted seeing a woman on the ground and a man being carried on a stretcher.

The Seattle Police Department is working to gather more information about the incident. Harborview Medical Center has locked down due to increased police activity. The Seattle Center Monorail was shut down for the rest of the day.
