Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith voiced criticism toward former first lady Jill Biden during a recent episode of his podcast. He argued that her public statements are indicative of the Democratic Party’s missteps. Speaking on his “Straight Shooter” podcast, Smith referenced her promotion of her memoir, “View From the East Wing.”
Jill Biden, among many Democrats, initially portrayed former President Joe Biden’s health positively regarding the 2024 elections. However, her book reveals she believed he might have experienced a stroke during his debate with President Donald Trump. Smith highlighted comments made during national broadcasts, where commentators perceived Biden as frail.
“You had commentators say on national television, he looked like an elderly patient waiting for his applesauce,” Smith said. He criticized Jill Biden’s public praise for her husband, despite her book admitting she thought he had suffered a stroke.
Smith also remarked that Jill Biden’s admission comes at a bad time for the Democratic Party, nearing the midterm elections.
“With gubernatorial and mayoral races ahead, revealing you were lying won’t help win,” he mentioned. Smith warned that these admissions give Republicans confidence to campaign in traditionally Democratic states like California.
He refuted claims of being anti-Democrat, emphasizing his intention to help the party succeed. “I’m being pro-Democrat. I’m trying to show you how to win,” Smith asserted.
Jill Biden’s memoir reveals that despite public support after the debate, she and Joe Biden privately acknowledged its pitfalls, initially suspecting that he had a stroke.
Fox News Digital reached out to Biden’s office for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
