Early Sunday, two shootings occurred on the same block in West Garfield Park, Chicago, resulting in injuries to seven people, according to Chicago police. Most victims are teenagers.
In the first incident, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest around 1:25 a.m. on the 3800 block of W. Maypole Ave. She was taken to Stroger Hospital and remains in critical condition.
Approximately ten minutes later, at 1:34 a.m., another shooting occurred on the same block. Six individuals, primarily teenagers, were outside when they were hit by gunfire. The victims include two 17-year-old boys, an 18-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man, a 19-year-old man, and a 20-year-old man. They are reported to be in good condition at Stroger and Mt. Sinai hospitals.
At about 1:48 a.m., a separate incident involved a 33-year-old man found with gunshot wounds in the 4300 block of W. Van Buren St., roughly a mile away. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and later died, police reported.
Area Four Detectives are currently investigating these shootings.
