The Taste of Naperville offers diners a delightful culinary adventure as over two dozen eateries present enticing deals on popular dishes. Running from October 9 through October 18, this event promises variety with prices starting from $5.
Participating establishments range from familiar downtown spots like Empire Burgers + Brew and Bangkok Village to south Naperville venues such as Bar Louie and Kabab King Grill. According to Monica Conners, President of the Naperville Development Partnership, the event aligns with current economic conditions, providing budget-friendly entertainment amidst rising gas prices.
The original concept for Taste of Naperville involved an outdoor festival akin to Taste of Chicago. However, logistical challenges prompted a shift to this more manageable format, beneficial to both restaurants and diners. Conners believes this format serves as a promising lead-up to the annual Restaurant Week.
Notably, some businesses typically absent from Restaurant Week participate in this event. Ice cream shops, for instance, find Taste of Naperville’s flexible pricing structure more suitable.
Malachi Aviles, General Manager at Tapville Social, views the event as an opportunity to engage with the community and enhance visibility. Tapville offers an array of eight dishes, with options like beer cheese fries and honey-butter chicken sliders, all starting at $5. Aviles hopes this initiative increases foot traffic and introduces more locals to their unique dining experience.
Bar Louie anticipates a 15 to 20% rise in customer visits during Taste of Naperville. General Manager Ashley Rambo sees the event as an exciting twist on the traditional Restaurant Week. Bar Louie’s special offerings include $10 options like bruschetta and cheese quesadillas, alongside a $15 chicken nachos deal, aiming to draw in new patrons.
