Taylor Fresh Foods Recalls Jalapeño Products Over Salmonella Concerns

Taylor Fresh Foods, the parent company of Taylor Farms, has initiated a voluntary recall of specific products containing jalapeños due to concerns about potential salmonella contamination. This announcement follows a previous recall by Taylor Farms of iceberg lettuce products sourced from central Mexico, linked to a multistate cyclospora outbreak affecting several people in the United States.

The company decided to remove products involving jalapeños from store shelves after learning that Coast Citrus Distributors also voluntarily withdrew fresh jalapeños for the same reason. Items such as guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip are among the recalled products. These items, distributed by Taylor Farms across various states, carry a “Best If Used By” date up until August 16, 2026.

Retailers such as Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart are among the stores where these products were sold. Taylor Fresh Foods has indicated that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are collaborating with state and local partners to investigate the salmonella outbreak linked to fresh jalapeños provided by Coast Citrus Distributors.

Investigations suggest that a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, supplying Coast Citrus Distributors, may be the outbreak’s source. Taylor Fresh Foods has stopped sourcing products from this grower and is now fulfilling orders through alternative suppliers. Currently, the company reports no illnesses from products containing jalapeños.

Consumers are advised to dispose of any recalled products immediately and refrain from consuming them. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
