A tragic incident unfolded at Chain O’ Lakes when a teenage boy went missing. He disappeared on Monday evening, leading to a search operation conducted by various authorities. Reports indicate the 15-year-old swimmer was last seen around 6 p.m. near Fox Lake.
Efforts by friends to locate him were unsuccessful, prompting them to contact the authorities for assistance. Several agencies joined the search, including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Fox Lake Fire Protection District, and Illinois Conservation Police.
A spokesperson from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that the boy had not been wearing a flotation device. It is unclear whether he jumped or fell into the lake from a boat. Approximately two hours after the initial call, divers and an underwater drone found a body in Pistakee Lake. The authorities believe it to be that of the missing teenager.
