Employee travel and expense management is undergoing significant changes as organizations seek to streamline operations and reduce costs. A survey by American Express and Forbes Insights involved 520 senior executives from large U.S. organizations, including C-suite leaders, focusing on the modernization of travel and expense systems.
Despite the adoption of cost-saving technologies, many operational improvements are progressing at a slower pace. Notably, while 81% of executives frequently utilize data analytics for cost optimization, only 38% have automated processes such as travel approvals or expense filing. This gap highlights considerable potential for further streamlining workflows and reducing the burdensome task of expense reporting and approvals.
This report identifies key innovations in travel and expense strategies and outlines how business leaders plan to leverage these to enhance systems.
According to the survey findings, executives are eager to implement automated technologies, but many face challenges in fully integrating these solutions.
